Warning Against Idleness

6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching Or tradition you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. 9 We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”

11 We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat. 13 And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right.

14 If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of him. Do not associate with him, in order that he may feel ashamed. 15 Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.

2 Thessalonians 3:6-15

Your Blog was great!!! I loved it!! YAAAHHHH!!
I wanted to comment a few things, but wasn't sure it was "comment worthy" you know??
First I totally agree with you with all your points, I just wanted to add a few things that I thought of as I read it :) I hope that's okay!!
By idle people, I think this verse also is supposed to speak to Christians who are idle, right? My reasoning being the verse itself is written to believers in Thessalonia or however the heck you spell it!! So, certainly we are supposed to be aware of idle seculars around us sucking life from everything around them, but even more we need to be aware of believers or people who call themselves "Christian" in particular who are holding so tight to the "all I have to do is pray a prayer and I am saved" line that they think Christ doesn't want or need them to do anything else. Secondly, I am also totally thrown off by Liberals who call themselves Christians, because I too can't understand how a person can support a party that condones murder. I have thought about this quite a bit fairly recently as well and came to this conclusion..... I know that I want to feel free to believe as I choose, without another person trying to force their "beliefs" on me, whether by laws created or just them being nosey. I think that Liberal Christians hold very tight to that ideal, and choose to be liberal to make a point of not forcing their beliefs on others. Does that make sense?? Just because I believe something doesn't make everyone believe it, whether I am right or wrong. My Faith is the same way. I can only evangelize successfully to those whose hearts have been softened by God. So I think that Liberal Christians really strongly feel that God will work in the government regardless or their choices, as He is in control!!
HOWEVER!!!!!
Like you, I am a conservative, republican who believes that Christians need to stand up for what this country was built on! Our Founding Fathers, and all the immigrants that came here for save haven to practice their Christian Beliefs without conflict, established through their blood this amazing nation! As Christians I really feel that we need to stand strong and fight for the cornerstones that this country has been built on. People shouldn't have changed the country t cater to their wants and carnal desires in the first place, if they didn't like our Christan roots and couldn't find a way to live with us, they should have left! But as Christians we are always trying to win souls for Christ and have accepted all of these wonderful people into our country, thus living among the Canaanites, and have begun living of the world, and not just in it. Instead of us rubbing off on them, we allowed them to penetrate the very core of our sacred government, and have lost control.
What do you think?
